Lisa J. Bodi, G.G.
Hi! My names Lisa Bodi, and I'm a Graduate Gemologist.
I've been working in the jewelry business for 29 years. My passion for jewelry started when I was young, and has continued my entire life.
My interest in gems and other stones began during my childhood. One of my most cherished possessions was my rock tumbler. I loved working with it, and I would regularly go to Burnies Rock Shop to buy new and interesting stones that I couldn't find myself. My love of stones and crystals helped to shape the person that I am today.
When I was 16, I got my first job selling jewelry. I worked at Sommers Keepsake Diamond Center, which at the time was located in Westgate Mall. Sommers Keepsake Diamond Center wasn't the only jeweler that I worked for. I also gained experience in the field while working at Goodman Jewelers and Ausman Jewelers.
After I graduated from high school, I attended the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and graduated in 1986. Shortly after graduation, in 1987, I furthered my education by taking the Jewelry Appraisal course from the GIA, and opened my own business.
I am an associate member of the Wisconsin Jewelers Association and have done many appraisals, as well as, judging jewelry that is designed by jewelers and students
throughout Wisconsin.
I also appraised jewelry to raise money for the Beloit Museum and PBS, along with other appraisers, appraising in their field of expertise. I had the opportunity to work with several of the appraisers from the Antiques Road Show.
