Comparison Appraisal
A client may bring in a jewelry or gemstone item to verify its identity and/or quality as claimed by the seller. Some jeweler appraisers will refuse to do such appraisals because they fear repercussions from their customers and colleagues if they provide appraisals that are to high or to low. Independent jewelry appraisers are without a vested interest in such cases and do not have this problem; they can render an ethical and professional appraisal based on careful research of the market in the valuer's locale without fearing any reprisals. Comparison appraisals usually reflect the jewelry at their most common retail-replacement price.
